As part of the transformation of Westbury’s historic playhouse, born in 1927, into a city-block cultural destination, Guycorp designed a contemporary retail and hospitality district that connects theater, dining, shopping and the arts within one cohesive public experience.
Led by Guy Tetrick, the development extends the architecture of the original turn-of-the-century New England–style playhouse into a carefully scaled collection of storefronts, restaurants, cafés, an ice cream parlor and artists’ studios. Pedestrian promenades, landscaped gathering spaces, outdoor dining and an integrated family of furnishings, lighting, signage and environmental graphics give the district an active identity from morning through evening.
Traditional architecture establishes the character; a contemporary public realm gives it relevance. Together, they create a retail environment that feels distinctly local, socially engaging and inseparable from the entertainment experience surrounding it.
