“Imagination gets the first meeting. Engineering makes sure the idea survives the second.” Guy Tetrick
Paramount Fort Lauderdale

Before There Was a Building, There Was a Legend.
Most residential developments begin with a foundation. Paramount Fort Lauderdale began with a story worth building around.
Long before its future residents received their keys, Guycorp was challenged to create something rarely found in a pre-construction sales environment: a reason to visit even if you weren't buying an apartment.
The answer was The Hand of God / The Tree of Life.
A monumental sculptural hand rises from the building's foundation, travels through a glass curtain-wall foyer, penetrates the underside of an elevated swimming pool, and emerges through the water. Its open fingers become a planter supporting a mature living tree.
A rather elaborate way to plant a tree. An unforgettable way to introduce a building.
The sculpture became the organizing idea for an architectural experience that connected master planning, landscape, hardscape, water, and public arrival into a single theatrical sequence. The surrounding environment was conceived not simply to accommodate visitors, but to turn their first encounter with Paramount into a story they could carry away.
The engineering had to make the impossible look effortless. The architecture had to make the improbable feel inevitable.
And the sales experience? That could wait a moment.
After all, when a building begins by reaching through a swimming pool to hold a living tree, there's already quite a lot to talk about.
