“Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.”

Fort Lauderdale has never lacked for waterfront addresses. The harder assignment was giving one a point of view.
For 321 at Water’s Edge, Guycorp approached residential design less as a collection of amenities than as an exercise in editing. Water, privacy, proportion and arrival were allowed to do the heavy lifting. The architecture does not compete with the horizon; it knows when to get out of its way.
That restraint is particularly important in a city where boats can arrive almost as naturally as cars. Here, the marina is not an accessory to the lifestyle. It is part of the front door.
After four decades of design, Guy Tetrick understands that sophistication rarely comes from adding one more thing. Sometimes the most expensive-looking decision in the room is the one you had the confidence not to make.
